Taking the quintessentially English tradition of afternoon tea to new heights, the outstanding Afternoon Tea at the Connaught is a sublime experience, offering the perfect way to spend an afternoon in London. Served in the beautiful conservatory extension that is Espelette, which gracefully curves around the Connaught from Mayfair’s Mount Street to Carlos Place, afternoon tea has been elevated to perfection under the direction of the Connaught’s Michelin starred chef Helen Darroze. Take in the pretty views overlooking world famous architect Tadao Ando’s new water feature whilst indulging in the signature Chic and Shock afternoon tea, offering the quintessential English teatime fare with a contemporary touch. Expect traditional finger sandwiches as well as fillings such as smoked salmon and wasabi cream and an amazing selection of cakes and pastries prepared by the hotel’s pastry chef Johannes Bonin, from the delectable tiramisu tart with mascarpone mousse to the chocolate sponge cake topped with a chocolate ganache. The lightest homemade apricot scones are served with thick double cream and the most incredible selection of jams from renowned French jam maker Christine Ferber, fondly known as the “Queen of Jams”. Choose from over 30 delectable flavours, all beautifully presented on the Connaught’s very own jam trolley. Accompany such delights with a wide selection of classic and flavoured teas. Traditional afternoon tea costs £35 per person, £45 per person with a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne and £55 per person with a glass of Laurent Perrier Rosé champagne. Awarded a prestigious membership by the British tea Council, Afternoon Tea at the Connaught is one serious destination experience.
