Taking place in the beautiful Neo Byzantine dining room complete with lots of gold and marble, Afternoon Tea at The Criterion is an opulent occasion. Immaculately dressed waiters present elegant tiered stands featuring delights such as homemade Criterion scones served with strawberry preserve and Ivy House clotted cream; a wide selection of the finest homemade traditional cakes and sweets and a wonderful selection of finger sandwiches. Naturally this all comes accompanied by a selection of some of the world’s finest teas served in the most delicate of china. Add a glass of Criterion house champagne to the occasion and make it a really special afternoon. It is said that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first imagined the meeting between Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes in this very room, making The Criterion quite a landmark in British history.
